Québec, May 3, 2011 – The Festival Grand Rire is turning up the heat for its summer 2011 programming, with major shows added to the festival pass. The pass now includes access to 15 shows being recorded for TV broadcast, including three Galas and the Comédie Club series. With the Grands Événements at the Agora Port de Québec, the Humour du Monde one-man shows, and the all-new Volet Impro, festival-goers now have access to more great shows than ever.

Impérial de Québec: the Galas Grandes Premières and the Gala Humour du Monde
This year, the festival pass gives you access to the Galas Grandes Premières (June 11 and 12), presented by 7UP, and the Gala Humour du Monde (June 13), presented by Air Transat. Hosted by the inimitable Dominic Paquet, the Galas Grandes Premières showcase the best new acts in comedy, while the Gala Humour du Monde, hosted by the peerless Boucar Diouf, will give fans a taste of the finest European acts. These three Galas will be presented at the Impérial.
 
Agora Port de Québec: five Grands Événements on the Loto-Québec stage
Festival-goers can expect another season of exceptional evening performances at this venue. Martin Matte gets the ball rolling on June 29 with an exclusive show presented by Discount consisting of excerpts from his last tour combined with new material. On June 30, the OSQ takes the stage with a symphonic tribute to the film The Gold Rush, while the Tim Hortons event on July 1 features Michel Barette hosting La Veillée des Bleuets with special guests Mario Pelchat and Philippe Laprise. On July 2, Peter MacLeod and his guests get Carte Blanche for big laughs, combining humour and music for a no holds barred evening of comedy. At the July 3 Coaticook event, Mario Jean closes the festival with a show featuring his greatest hits. The Grands Événements will be presented on the Loto-Québec stage.
 
Salle Sylvain-Lelièvre: the Comédie Club joins the Festival Grand Rire
After a successful second season, the televised Comédie Club shows, produced in collaboration with Astral Radio, are now an official part of the 2011 programme. From June 21 to 27, comedy fans can head over to the Salle Sylvain-Lelièvre at the Cégep Limoilou for the best of the latest season, presented by the “godfathers” of comedy: Léveillée, Massicotte, Courtemanche, MacLeod, Béland and Chick’n Swell.
 
Cour du Vieux-Séminaire: introducing the Série Impro
Under the guidance of artistic director Luc Senay, this year’s festival brings you a new take on improv comedy. From June 29 to July 3, the whole family can enjoy the passion and talent of our improvisers in the Feuilleton, a daily episodic show. Each episode sets the stage for the evening’s main event: 30 impros – 60 min., a live overdub of the Hitchcock classic I Confess, Wonder 3/4, Les Improductifs, and a Québec–Montréal musical improv challenge.
 

Impérial de Québec: Humour du monde one-man shows
From June 15 to 17, the best of Europe will be taking the Impérial by storm with a series of one-man shows presented by Air Transat, Humour du Monde. Topick, Kev Adams, Devals and Gaudin, Gustave Parking, Jypey and Denis Maréchal will be hitting the stage with 75 minutes of their best material.

Grand Théâtre de Québec: Grand Galas
Comedy fans are in for a treat with this year’s lineup of Grand Galas, presented by Québec 49. Hosts Mario Jean, Dominic and Martin, Anthony Kavanagh and Peter MacLeod will bring you comedy’s brightest stars, on their own or in unique combinations.
 
Cabaret du Capitole: The return of the Masters Tournament
The cream of Quebec’s improv comedians return to open the festival from June 8 to 10 in the Masters Tournament. This exciting formula sees competitors such as Réal Bossé, Simon Boudreault, Salomé Corbo, Sophie Caron, François-Etienne Paré and Christian Vanasse compete head-to-head for the coveted title of improv Grand Master, all under the watchful eye of legendary referee Yvan Ponton.
 
Introducing the Section Club Air Transat at the Agora
Can’t stand to miss out on floor seats for the Grands Événements at the Agora? This year a limited number of tickets for the new Section Club will be available at a cost of $52.50.
